If the can is opened to the atmosphere, perhaps the vaccum suction is drawing all the air from the atmosphere and not from the oil separator itself...defeating the entire purpose. My setup is a closed system as TOO has suggested and I get TONS of oil. If I don't drain the thing out for a couple of weeks, it'll probably be filled with oil.
